      The short version: ByteTools works entirely on your device.
      We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your personal information or your
      documents. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads. Your files never
      leave your phone unless you choose to share or export them.
    

Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how the ByteTools mobile application (the “App”) handles information. ByteTools is an offline-first document scanner, image-to-PDF converter, and PDF/file compressor for Android.

Information we collect

We do not collect any personal data. ByteTools has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no login. We do not run analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not track your activity.

The documents, images, and PDFs you scan, import, or create are processed entirely on your device. They are not uploaded to us or to any third-party server.

How your content is handled

Scanning & capture: images captured with your camera are processed locally to detect, crop, and enhance pages.
Image to PDF & compression: conversion and size targeting happen on-device using the App's own engine.
Storage: documents you save are stored in the App's private storage on your device. Files you explicitly export (e.g. “Download”) are saved to your device's public Downloads folder.
Sharing: sharing a file uses your device's standard share sheet. Anything you send through it is governed by the privacy policy of the app or service you share it with.

Permissions we use

Camera — to scan and capture documents. Camera images are only used for the scan you initiate.
Photos / Media / Storage — to let you import images and to save the PDFs you create. Access is limited to the files you select or the files the App creates.

We do not access your contacts, location, microphone, call logs, or messages.

Third-party services

ByteTools does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and it does not share data with third parties. If the App is distributed through the Google Play Store, Google may collect limited installation and crash information in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

Data retention & deletion

Because your content stays on your device, you are in full control of it. You can delete any document inside the App at any time, or uninstall the App to remove its private data from your device.

Children's privacy

ByteTools is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
